I am looking for new challenges and experiences as a Unix/Linux system
administrator in a small- to medium-sized company. I would like to find
a company which is environmentally and socially responsible where I
can use my skill and knowledge to contribute to the company's success.
I would also like to be part of a strong team that supports and encourages

Supervised work scholars in the laundry area to ensure various
tasks were completed, many which were time dependant. Had to
train 11 new work scholars every 5 weeks on the tasks required
of them to perform their jobs. Participated in classes on
Gestalt therapy, massage therapy and other personal growth areas.
< May 2006 to July 2006 >
Work scholar at Esalen Institute. Participated in classes on
basic Gestalt therapy and theater. Worked in the laundry
area while taking classes.
< Dec 1997 to March 2006:
Unix System Administrator at Nationwide >
On a team responsible for supporting over 600 Unix/Linux servers.
Required to install, patch, upgrade and configure systems and
perform on-call duties.
+ Support NIS client/server infrastructure.
+ Maintain servers used for enterprise-wide DNS and Sendmail
services.
+ Responsible for Network Time Protocol environment used to
synchronize time on most Unix, Windows, and network systems.
+ Create all Solaris 2.5.1, 2.6, 8, and 10 server builds and
maintain a Jumpstart environment used for Solaris installs.
+ Administer servers used in a DMZ environment which provided
DHCP, DNS, NTP and FTP services to over 2000 Windows servers
and agent offices.

Accomplishments:
+ Standardized console access using conserver, which provided
console logging for all Unix systems.
+ Built Jumpstart laptops using OpenBSD to provide a
convenient way to Jumpstart several versions of Solaris
on systems not capable of accessing the production Jumpstart
environment.
+ Training other sys admins on the use of the DNS, Sendmail,
NTP, console server and Jumpstart environments.

Systems Developer/Engineer at The Ohio State University >
Part of a team that was responsible for maintaining Unix systems
providing electronic mail, news and web services for the entire
university community of over 40,000 active users.
Accomplishments:
+ Increased reliability of electronic mail services within the
university by developing and modifying POP mail software,
substantially decreasing mail system outages.
+ Provided ongoing technical guidance to group members in Unix
system and network administration.
+ Took initiative to provide leadership to other members in the
group to complete projects when our team was without a
manager.

Worked in an MVS mainframe environment with responsibility for
administering the TCP/IP software and its configuration.
Maintained mail software written in IBM 370 assembler. Helped

However, sometimes the best challenges aren't the biggest systems, but instead scaling smaller systems to handle previously unknown loads, or coming up with unique and interesting ways to try to solve old problems.
